February Freebie 2014 - FREE activities with a Passport to Learning!

February Freebie is back! 
During the February half term 2014, you can use your Passport to Learning to access FREE learning activities happening across the city. You will be awarded one credit for every hour you take part.

If you don't have to Passport to Learning yet, don't worry! You can buy one at any local library for £2 and then use it to collect credits at all our Learning Destinations during half term and beyond!

See the table below for full details of all the fantastic activities taking place. You'll be able to pick up a Feb Freebie leaflet which lists all the activities at school or from the local library. Please be aware that some activities do require booking and some require children to be accompanied by an adult.

From little acorns, great oaks grow...

The Acorn Fund is a brand new development for Sheffield CU and is awarded to groups of children and young people from any Sheffield Children’s University school to use to develop clubs and activities in school. The idea is that just like a tiny acorn grows into a huge oak tree, children and young people can use a small amount of money from the Acorn Fund to grow a wonderful club or activity in their school.  We have already received a number of applications from schools across the city who are interested in developing cooking clubs, a table tennis club, lego club, sewing clubs and funtime design and doodling.

 

 In order to find out whats needed, children and young people from CU schools across the city have been talking to their friends and classmates, and completing surveys and questionaires. Here are some examples of the fantastic responses received...

Sheffield Day of Games!

Our February Freebie 2014 will kick off with the very first Sheffield Day of Games!


Working alongside some of Sheffield's top game retailers, Imagination Gaming will be hosting a fantastic day of games for all the family, young and old with lots to do for everyone, including all regular gamers out there!


Head to the Winter Garden on Saturday 22nd February between 11am and 4pm to take part for FREE! If you take along your Passport to Learning, you will also be able to collect CU credits for taking part.

The Outpost

The Outpost is one of Sheffield's premier gaming locations. They stock a wide range of models from Games Workshop, Privateer Press, Spartan Games and many more so they are sure you will find something you need.

Science Brainwaves!

February Freebie is back!

Happy New Year! We are back, and hope you all had a lovely Christmas and are looking forward to all the exciting things 2014 has to offer!


First on our list is February Freebie - which is back and better than ever! Over 30 FREE activities will be taking place for those with a Children's University Passport to Learning throughout the February half term holidays.

 
This year we are very very excited to announce that the February Freebie activities will kick off on the 22nd of February, with the first ever Sheffield Day of Games! Working alongside some of Sheffield's top gaming retailers, our friends at Imagination Gaming will be hosting a fantastic day of games for all the family, young and old with lots to do for everyone, including all regular gamers out there! This will take place at the Winter Gardens between 11am and 4pm and all Passport to Learning holders will be able to collect CU credits for taking part.

We will be announcing further details shortly, and there will be posters and leaflets popping up in schools, libraries and Learning Destinations near you soon. Keep your eyes peeled!
